French Food Festivals

Pondicherry is a town that is always very lively with fairs and festivals organized periodically. These fairs and festivals form part of religious or cultural celebrations. Pondicherry is also known for its food festivals, particularly the French food festival. The French food festival has become part of the Pondicherry culture and serves as one of the important attractions for tourists’ here. This food festival is popularly known as Gourmet. Gourmet is organized by the tourism department of Pondicherry.

Centuries of French occupation in this town of Pondicherry has left an indelible mark in the culture of Pondicherry. The cuisine of Pondicherry has therefore been influenced by the French cuisine. The French food festival of Pondicherry is held annually in the month of August. The food festival showcases all kinds of French dishes that is both visually appealing and mouthwatering. One should not miss the food extravaganza presented here with such a lot of passion.

The locals as well as the tourists look forward to this novel event. French cuisine dominates the menu though there are dishes from other cuisines as well. Some of the delicious dishes to look forward to include French shellfish casserole, ratha sura meen, vanjaram, chilled peach and litchi stew, aubergine and tomato in curry sauce with Mexican pasta and Khalia chocolate mousse. The French wine flows in plenty and one can have a royal time eating and drinking.
