Pondicherry’s
climate is typical of the climate
of South India at large. The
months best suited to visit
Pondicherry are December through
February. This season is marked
by temperatures going only as
high as 30 degrees with extremely
pleasant nights. This is the
“winter “in Pondicherry
and is an ideal time for tourists
to visit this place.
The heat starts setting in from
March and the months from March
to July are extremely hot and
humid. Tourists could find this
season extremely uncomfortable
as the temperature can touch
upto 40 Degrees Its best to
avoid making a pleasure trip
to Pondy during these months,
though the beaches could give
you some relief.. These months
are the notorious summers in
this part of the world. If you
do happen to travel during these
seasons carry only cotton clothes.
The end of summer is marked
by rain showers from the end
of July. This is a welcome relief
from the scorching summer heat
as temperatures are considerably
reduced. Light showers can also
be experienced occasionally
till December Monsoon. Apart
from the winter seasons, Pondicherry
can be an enjoyable experience
during the monsoon when the
showers are not too much. Extreme
monsoon results in this town
and the surrounding areas getting
flooded along with the spread
of a lot of diseases and infections.
Each season has its own distinct
beauty. There is the calm and
serene feeling in the winter
season, the unmistakable drenched
beauty of the monuments and
beaches during the monsoon and
a kind of stark beauty during
the scorching summer. |
